The Effect Of Paper Basis Weight To Press Device

Because of the diameter of paper fiber is smaller than felt fiber, when the paper is attached to the surface of the felt, the pores of the paper are much smaller than the pores of the felt, that is to say, the moisture in paper machine felt is much easier to remove than the moisture in paper. Therefore, when pressure and dehydration, the thickness of paper become an important factor to control dehydration rate. When paper as thin as newspaper, the water is easily pressed out.

When paper as thick as liner paper board, paper itself will hinder the outflow of paper. High basis weight paper and low basis weight paper has different influence to paper machine press device.

The light weight paper generally refers to 100 g/m² paper.

For this type of paper, the main parameters affecting the dewatering efficiency are the pressure and the degree of “rewetting”. Therefore, it is advisable to use a vertical dewatering (such as a grooved roller) with a high hardness on the roll surface, a single-blanket press, and a hard-pressed area where the sheet is separated from the felt as soon as possible after the paper is pressed out.

The high basis weight paper refers to 165 g/m² of paperboard.

For this type of paper, a vertical dewatering roller with a low surface hardness is preferred. Double-blanket squeezing is preferred for high line pressure and long-term compression. The wide nip zone will achieve better crushing efficiency, and the newly developed wide nip press will allow the dried cardboard to have a dryness of more than 45%.
